  • 3 ripe bananas, smashed
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Total time: 1 hour


First step is to preheat the oven to 350 F. Then, take a large bowl and mix the butter into the mashed bananas, with a wooden spoon. Also, mix in the egg, vanilla and sugar. Sprinkle the salt and baking soda over the mixture and mix in. Last add the flour and mix just enough to blend the ingredients. Be Careful: don’t overmix, because the lumps will work themselves out. The next step is to add the chopped walnuts(wiki)  to the batter mix them in to distribute evenly through the batter.
After that, you butter a 4×8 inch loaf pan. Line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper, butter the parchment paper too. Pour the batter in the pan. You let the mixture to bake for 1 hour. Remove from oven and cool completely on a rack. Remove the banana bread from the pan. Slice and serve.
